Portugal Central Route. From Porto, Portugal to Santiago de Compostella, Spain
Day 1: Porto to Sao Pedro de Rates
Prior to starting the Portugal trek, Barbara, Kristine and Mark met up with Kristine’s daughter Breeze. Here are a couple of their pictures.
This Cathedral is what they say is the most important religious building or cathedral in Porto. It is also the starting point for the starting point for pilgrims walking from Porto to Santiago de Compostela. Pilgrims purchase their passports inside and often have their pictures taken before they start off on their trek north to Santiago. Construction for this church began in the 12th Century. The architecture is mainly Baroque. The structure has a column in the center where criminals were once hung.
Day 3: To Lugar de Corgo
We came over the mountain today where you see the saddle. It was a 13 mile day.
