Here is a text Lisel received from Barbara:  "We made it - we're over the Pyrenees and staying in a Monastery tonight The route over the top was closed just when we were geared up and ready to leave. We ended up taking another route which was strenuous also. It was beautiful."

[Above] From a text received from Barbara on 4/7/2017.  "This is the view as seen from our albergue where we stayed after our second day of walking."

Ride em cowboy!!!

Having an amazing time on the Camino de Santiago. Goofing off at a small playground along the way and enjoying amazing scenery, awesome hiking family (2 inspiring ladies call us the "fun group!"), meeting new fun people along the way, being glad of the training I've done, going 68km so far, enjoying Pamplona for a day of rest and touring, then getting on the road again in 2 days. We're learning so much about ourselves, what we truly need in life, and embracing so much along this journey. I'm so grateful for this opportunity. Mostly great hiking weather- not too hot, but yesterday we got to test our rain gear.  All is Good! They're having a pintxos (tapas) contest at local restaurants so we're going to check them out tonite. Lots of great wine? Loving every minute of it!!

[Below] Lisel supplied this photo that she received as a text from Barbara.  Good to see that Barbara is learning her smart phone.   These two women from New York,  have walked the Camino 5 times.  Natalie on the left is 84 and the other, Tina, is 71.

Barbara sees her shadow - few more weeks of Spring!

[Reasearched this description.]  At the top of the hill, Alto de Perdón, is where this sculpture is located.  This metallic sculpture is the work of Vincent Galbete, who immortalized pilgrims on their way to Santiago. The work is adorned with the words:
Donde se cruza el camino del viento con el de las estrellas.
(Where the path of wind crosses with the stars.)

Here is Barbara's text about this site:  She says "...we reached the top after a longuphill climb to a spot where all one's sins are forgiven and an automatic entrance to heaven is guaranteed,  We crossed over the Pass of Forgiveness."   She goes on to say, "Whoops - only good until the end of the Camino as long as you have no intentions of committing a sin."

[Debbie posted this.] This is an amazing couple we met. Isabelle and Pepe. They have been married 55 yrs. He is 67. You do the math. He says Deborah is a man-eater. She says no. Deborah is magnificent. Deborah is a goddess. I absolutely fell in love with them.

Wonderful evening with new and old friends! Guy and Monica from Toronto plus Pepe and Isabella who are locals. SUCH fun people! We continue to cruise along with more blisters, shin splints and laughter! Beautiful sunny weather with a breeze, and marvelous scenery and friendly helpful encounters at every turn. Hope to post more tonight!
